Finding Each Other

I suppose our story starts like many others. Nope, not the once-upon-a-time-type, the online-dating-profile-type.

Being LGBTQ-ish in small town Wisconsin is exactly what you’d expect. A small dating pool. I can’t tell you how many times Ashley has talked about how her exes were how she met her next girlfriends. Many times the people dating each other had dated each other already through exes. Almost as complicated as a Grey’s Anatomy love triangle, but with less Shonda-inspired-drama.

Ashley and I first met up cautiously. We both brought our “back-up” in case the other turned out to be a crazy internet person. My back up was a small-sized blonde college friend, Ashley’s was her guy friend, 5’ 9” and scrawny. I’d put money that my back-up would’ve whooped hers anyway. Probably still true of the two today.

I remember walking into the bar we were meeting at and seeing her sitting by the door. Being the courageous person I am, I immediately ducked my head and ran to the bar, dragging my friend behind me. We got a drink and finally with some liquid courage, I made my way over. The rest is history!
